It's not that I mean to criticise Neil Lennon by questioning him, but you have to be very sure of yourself to feel you can publicly castigate your players when you don't get a good result. The trouble with this is that these are the players he has to work with and they were chosen by Neil himself.
Now, if Lennon wishes to make changes he doesn't have many options open to him. Last seasons gem's aren't playing too well, he has injuries and January is too far away for this title race.
So forget the transfer window as an option, yes?
James Forrest is one of Celtic's most recent youth players to make the grade and find himself in the senior squad. Not only that, he has been given a starting slot, scored goals and provided assists.
This young player has been the only real 'success' of Celtic's season so far. Are there any more of his kind willing to lend a hand in order to get results?
In my opinion anything is worth a try at this moment in time. I mean, if you're willing to play Ledley and Matthews at left back and Mulgrew in midfield why not call in the reserves eh?!
Kayal hasn't looked anything like last season, Ki has been a bit off the boil recently and Hooper has lost his way in front of goal. They must find their own form once again or find themselves well down the pecking order.
I don't keep tabs on the youths as I did the reserves but when money is an issue in Scottish football and not just at Celtic, you would have to say that short of football collapsing in Scotland, youth is the way forward. I have always been a supporter of youth players getting their chance and blending with a fair mix of experience but the opportunity for youth is rare.
If money stopped coming in or at least dropped further still then the young men of our very own country would be fought over. Instead we cast them off into the abyss over higher paid hit or miss players from further afield.
The thing his, how many times can Neil Lennon keep shifting around his players before he puts his own hands up. To be fair he has admitted getting it wrong before but that was one match only.
The theory of success in football has always baffled me. For Neil Lennon it is just out of reach.
