Celtic have now played their game at hand, won the match and subsequently closed the gap on first position in the SPL. A superb start and first half was looking like the match would overwhelm visiting Dunfermline, but they got a goal out of the tie.

A barrel of chances failed to come off for Celtic but the attitude was great as was some of the play. The game faded out though as many of these 'should have been 10-0' matches do with Celtic.

From time to time a team will get a hiding from us, but we've not seen one for a while now. But lets not take away from a job well done, gap closed, next match please - the players played well.

After the league leaders faltered at the weekend, the chance to gain on them twice in one week has had a positive effect on the Celtic players and supporters. In turn, this must have had an effect on our rivals as well because lets face it, they have not been under any pressure from us all season.

Now they will be feeling Celtic breathing on their necks. Come the weekend, Celtic will have chance to increase that pressure by closing the gap to four points before R*****s play Kilmarnock on Sunday.

So its a big weekend ahead for Celtic who have secured the January signing of Mikael Lustig from Rosenberg as well as trialist Andre Blackman. Another two players to bolster the squad is always beneficial but it does raise the question of possible departures within the squad for similar playing positions.

Celtic have an abundance of defenders at the moment, particularly full-backs. With injuries hitting the squad hard it is perhaps a good move to bring in backup for the rest of the season however it would be impossible to accommodate all of these players when and if they are all fit.

At the moment though, it is satisfying to be playing and winning. The additional players add to that confidence and hopefully these guys will get their chance to help out the squad when called upon.

We may be heading toward winter, but his season is beginning to warm up.

Hail! Hail!
