Celtic set off to Aberdeen on Friday with an unhappy Neil Lennon voicing his opinion about the early kick-off following an international break. It was a valid point the manager was making but I don't think it was the sole reason for an end to Celtic's winning run up at Pittodrie.

Celtic's current form is not in question by anyone right now. The club are approaching each match well and getting fair and square results but like Lennon I do have reservations about yesterdays game.

Aberdeen haven't lost a match since Christmas Eve, more than two months ago. That undefeated run now stands at twelve matches for Craig Browns side.

For me, that's a string of results to respect, especially when travelling to the far north. Throw in your own opinion that the match should have been scheduled for a later kick-off and you apply a cautious approach.

Well, that's what should have happened anyway. What did happen was that we blooded two new boys in one go in each full back berth and dropped our only other strong players in the midfield.

With the set in stone exclusions of Brown, Ki and Kayal, Wanyama should have been a starter in my opinion. And I can understand throwing in one new full back, maybe, but two?

Andre Blackman was unlucky and will try and forget this début quickly. Lustig is of course a more experienced player, but sometimes it can take new players of any experience time to adjust to a new team.

Personally I don't believe these were changes that had to be made, certainly not all of them anyway. In a home match, perhaps; but away to a form team, no.

For me this is one for Lennon to take on the chin. Or maybe its me that has got this one wrong and he was trying to make a point about the early kick off?

I don't feel I am being hypercritical about this one, I just think it was a bit of a gamble gone wrong. Full marks to the Don's though for not getting humped by us.

The important thing is that we didn't lose and have maintained an undefeated run. Just like Aberdeen have.

Could have been worse right enough. We could have got beaten by Hearts at home....

All good fun.

Hail! Hail!
