Having a conversation with some Celtic fans, it became apparant that the older Celtic fans (30+) where finding it really hard to associate themselves with players that they really loved.

I don't mean they don't like other Celtic players, it's more to do with favourite celts like yesteryear, there was always a few in each team that people could associate with i.e. McStay, McAvennie / Cadete, Pierre, Di Canio / Lubo, Henrik, Sutty, Hartson, Lenny. But now nearly all Celtic fans I speak to have really only 1 player and that seems to be the holy goalie.

If he leaves in the summer I can honestly say that there isn't a Celtic player that I could say is my favourite/s.

Anyone else feel like that or am I just part of a weird group..............LOL. :28:

defo onto something there. McGeady could be the new fans favorite.

I think Boruc is one of the few players who know what its like to be a fan.

He stands up for what he believes in.

I would hate to see the HG leave in the summer - we'd miss him immensely. The huns absolutely hate him, and maybe because he is the victim of their bile, and his reaction to this, endears him more to ourselves? I don't know.
Neil Lennon was my fav player - Naka has now taken over that mantle.

Cheeky Bassa older fans I'm 45 and still feel young in response to your question the HG is the only one I can relate to and I'm not religious just that he expresses himself with a love for the team WAM similiar but less obvious

Reading todays papers was a reminder of what we are up against! Some are comparing the t-shirt worn by the H.G. of the late J.P. to a picture of k billy,[the ultimate bigot on horseback!], if that were worn by a rangers player.Artur Boruc is a man of faith, and likes to express it and he has done it in front of the 52,000 Celtic fans. The anti Catholic bile we have to put up with happens nowhere else on the planet, and seems to be at it's worst when we beat the forces of darkness.

Got 2 admit but the late great JOHNNY DOYLE made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up everytime he got on the ball. His love of our team was immense.

Kenny Dalglish was and will remain my all time favourite Celtic player. I judge a player by his footballing abilities, and what he brought to our club, he was the consumate professional. Nearer to today I'd have to pick Henke. Both Kenny and Henke were great servants to Celtic, both throughout their careers conducted themselves with honour. There are many other players who I loved and appreciated, Jinky, Daniel Fergus, Packy B, Artur. I could go on. But for me Kenny and Henke are head and shoulders above all others.

I think Scott McDonald deserves this love from Celtic Fans now, McGeady aswell, but Boruc is class. Anyone that can wind up the huns like that is a legend in my book.
