Depends on a lot of factors to be honest, but vBulletin is the best Forum software out there by far, it isn't free but at around £100 per license it's good value.

We do offer an installation and maintenance package and all proceeds go to our CSC fund. Let me know if you are interested.

Hail Hail and Good Luck.

good things are rarely free sadly

phpbb3.1 is pretty good though and free :P

PHPBB is not stable enough and easily hackable.

You get what you pay for....

Again, it depends on the need, if security isn't a top priority then PHPBB is an option.

vBulletin can be bridged with Wordpress yes, and there are multiple options for the license for vBulletin, you can buy one outright for life, that doesnt expire but after a year you would have to pay for updates, or you can also lease a license at a reduced rate but this has it's limitations as well.

At £100 a year for the full license it is still a bargain in my opinion, very scalable, 1000's of addons and very stable in comparison to others.

will have to have a little think about it, i understand it is possible to intergrate them but for some reason think something like the Subdreamer forum would be better:

http://www.subdreamer.com/forum/

And just have a couple a categories but not seen anything to do like that with any forum yet.

Cheers folks,

unfortunately my boss wont pay for vBulletin as he employs me as the web geek!!!!! says i have to use some of the free ones, also has to run on our dedicated server so cant have any links to the internet (most things are bloked anyway) i have downloaded PHPBB so will try to work round with that.

Wish me luck (i think it will be a long day!!!!!!)
