Saving Holiday DVD's to Media programmes

I have been trying to save my holiday DVD.s on my computer, but with no success. I cannot save them to The Media Library for either media player or media centre, is there a programme that will allow me to do this, doing my nut in. Hail Hail

Do you want to rip the DVD into a an AVI or a DIVX, some other format?

I use DVD shrink to do this then VLC media player will play anything atall. but if you are sharing it over media centre you will need to convert it to AVI,DIVX or WMV.

VLC will also play the image of the DVD.
