Speaks from the heart
Comparitively different...
In the early 1990's, a rebellion began in the Celtic faithful which would place pressure on the owners of our club at the time, to get out of town. What was achieved by the eventual arrival of Fergus McCann and the eradication of the family owners at Celtic Football Club, and with it the debt, pales by comparision to what is happening at across the city at our club rivals today.
The money that is said to be owed, why it wasn't paid and who that money is owed to isn't just debt, its a crime. With that in mind, ask yourself 'why has this taken so long to make the headlines?'
We know that sportswriters have been in the back pocket of Murray for long enough - maybe they had second contract as well - but even now as this story has finally been investigated, you still feel nobody has twisted the knife in the media. There was no shortage of this back in the early nineties when Celtic fans were battling against the old regime at Paradise.
You must also ask therefore, why does any representative past or present of our city rivals have any right at all to chastise any Celtic representative of gloating? Moreover, nobody in the Scottish media should be reporting such hypocrtical garbage about either.
I think the fact that there has been nowhere near as big a campaign or revolt by our rival fans just goes to show that when you're wrong, you're wrong. As we know, the Whyte Knight has actually become more of a scapegoat than a saviour, whilst the gulity remain out on the street.
There is much more to come from this story across the city, but we will never see the media assasination that Celtic received back in the early nineties. In fact, we have seen a very lenient and supportive media repsonse by comparison, not much of a surprise I know.
I have very little faith in our football bodies in Scotland so I can only hope that when UEFA and FIFA get involved, suitable punishment will be swift and accurate. This is of course over and above what lies ahead for our rivals ownership, money owed and the sentence they are administered.
As I already stated the scale and depth of this case is more serious and more harmful to others than our rebellion against the boards dealing in the 1990's. In recent times as we are seeing organistion by organisation investigated and prosecuted more and more, I live in hope of justice in the city of Glasgow.
